Entella, the team from Chiavari, experienced a memorable adventure between 1984 and 1986, winning Serie C2 and then achieving a fifth place with Giampiero Ventura at the helm. Nello Scarpa, former Entella player, tells the story of those two historic years. Scarpa, born in Venice in 1947, has lived in Chiavari for over 30 years, since 1983 when he decided to accept the offer from Entella's management to play in Serie D with the biancocelesti. The first season in D under the guidance of Sergio Vezzoso was positive, then Ventura arrived, who was 36 years old at the time and had already coached some teams in the province of Genoa. Along with him, some players were acquired who strengthened the team. Ventura's team was a ride, almost always in the lead despite a group between Liguria and Tuscany that was not easy at all. Two matches were the turning point: one against Rapallo and the other against Castelfiorentino, which gave mathematical certainty of promotion. Scarpa remembers those moments with pleasure, especially the match against Lucchese, won 2-0 with a goal from Luciano Spalletti. After that season, some players, including Ventura and the current coach of Zenit, moved to Spezia. Scarpa played one last year as a player in Chiavari, then a period as a manager. Now he has stayed in Tigullio, where he also met his partner and sometimes meets some of his former teammates. The story of Entella is a story of passion and dedication, of men who worked hard to achieve their goals. And those two years with Ventura at the helm were just the beginning of a long and glorious history.
